Two is better than one

KOHLHAGE puts second system for fine cleaning into operation

Anyone who has ever seen pictures from modern automobile production knows that cleanliness is the focus here. This applies equally to production halls and plants. It also applies to products supplied by suppliers to automotive production.

And anyone who has seen how industrial metal processing works also knows: Metal chips accumulate during production, emulsions, oils and greases are used, and dust and other contaminants also occur. Sensitive products and assemblies must therefore be carefully cleaned before delivery. This is made possible by the use of so-called fine cleaning systems. In principle, these work like conventional washing machines, but are more complex, more precise and considerably larger.

KOHLHAGE has had such a fine cleaning system for years. However, increased customer specifications and a significant increase in the number of products requiring cleaning have sometimes led to internal capacity bottlenecks in the past. Since two weeks, however, this problem has been solved. A second plant has already been delivered, set up and put into operation.

“80% of our automotive products are cleaned before we send them to the customer. With the second plant, we have been able to solve two requirements at once: We are meeting the ever-increasing demand and at the same time offering redundancy and fail-safety. Our customers appreciate that,” says Marc Schreiber, Managing Director at KOHLHAGE Automotive. “The fact that we are also more flexible with the second system is a welcome side effect,” he emphasizes.

Both plants are currently running in 2-shift operation. Should demand continue to rise, even 3-shift operation is possible, says Schreiber. Therefore, the investment in such a plant is also an investment in the future of KOHLHAGE.
